Afro-Antillean Museum of Panama
Location: Esquina de Calle 24 Este y Avenida Justo Arosemena, Panama City. The Museum is housed in what used to be the Christian Mission Church, which was built in El Marañon, Calidonia, by workers from Barbados in 1909. It is a wooden structure reflecting a Caribbean style. It features a main exhibition space containing historical photographs depicting the living conditions of the western Caribbean immigrants who came to Panama for the construction of the railroad in 1850 and, later, for the construction of the Panama Canal in the first two decades of the 20th century. It also has dioramas of the daily life of Afro-Antilleans illustrating their lifestyles.
