Stopover Terms & Conditions

One (1) Stopover in Panama is allowed at no additional airfare cost only if requested at the time the ticket is originally purchased and issued.

The passenger must pay the applicable taxes for entry and departure from Panama (FZ, AH, F3), i.e., approximately US$50.

The Panama Stopover program can be purchased through Copa Airlines sales channels (Copa Airlines Reservation Center, ConnectMiles Service Center, Sales Offices and at Copa.com). It can also be purchased through travel agencies.

The Stopover program applies to:

  • All public fares.

  • Group reservations (10+ passengers) made through the Copa Airlines Reservation Center.

  • Tickets issued by Copa Airlines including codeshare or interline segments.

Once the ticket has been issued or the trip has begun, the Stopover will not be free of charge and additional charges for change will be applied according to the fare purchased (difference in fare, penalty fees, etc.).

If you want to make two (2) Stopovers, i.e., both on the outbound and return trip, you must request it before the ticket is issued and an additional cost of up to US$250.00 plus taxes will be charged for the second Stopover.

The Stopover may be requested on a one-way or roundtrip itinerary.

Copa Airlines’ free baggage allowance applies. Excess baggage fees apply in addition to the free baggage allowance. Additional charges will be applied again when you check your bags at Tocumen International Airport in Panama after your Stopover.

Special services are requested and/or charged on a per segment basis except in the case of connections. A first charge must be paid at the point of origin and a second charge must be paid in Panama.

If the passenger wishes to stay for more than 7 days, the Stopover program no longer applies. The reservation will be booked as a regular multi-city trip without restriction on duration, and the fare quoted by the system will apply.

The passenger is responsible for complying with all immigration and health requirements for entry into Panama: valid passport, visas, tourism cards, international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever and any additional or special requirements or documents that may be necessary under current laws and regulations.

Copa Airlines will gather information corresponding to the reservations made with various tour operators in Panama and may share such information with second party companies authorized by Copa Airlines.
